Please note that this document is outdated and is available for reference purpose only. This document has been superceeded by the AfriNIC Fees schedule 2008
1. Introduction To support its operation, AfriNIC will charge its members fees that may change from year to year according to operations cost and financial wealth of the organisation and upon validation by the board of Trustees. Below is the detailed fee schedule for 2006-2007. To become a full member and get service (assignment/allocation) from AfriNIC, new applicants will have to pay the initial service and/or membership fee. AfriNIC will charge an annual fee for service and membership according to the figures below. A special 10% discount will be offered to organizations that make renewal payments prior to the invoice date or within the 20 days after of the invoice issue. 2. IPv4 fee schedule
3. IPv6 fee schedule To encourage and promote IPv6 usage and allocation in the Region, organizations which qualify to receive IPv6 allocation will have the first year's fees waived (the initial fee and the first annualfee)
4. IPv4 assignment to “End-User”
End Users which will request IP address assignment from AfriNIC will pay a setup fee of USD 2500 and an annual flat USD 100 maintenance/membership fee which will be collected in advance every three years as approved by the AfriNIC Board in December 2006. Please note any additional assignments will be charged separately. If an end-user receives an ASN, the organization must pay the annual maintenance fee according to the terms in this document. 5. ASN for Non-LIR organization
The initial payment for the allocation of an ASN to an organisation that is not a local Internet registry (LIR) is USD 400. Including annual maintenance fee of USD 50 and will be collected in advance every six years as approved by the AfriNIC Board in December 2006. Accordingly, the annual maintenance/membership fee corresponding to the 6 first years (USD 300), will be collected along with the initial payment (which makes the total payment to USD 700). Organizations holding both ASN and IPv4 space will not be charged with the ASN maintenance fee. 6. Member-Only Fees (Honor members) The annual membership fee is USD 100. Please note that organizations holding IPv4 and IPv6 resources as End Users become AfriNIC members automatically by paying the initial setup fee and the annual fee. Therefore, they don't need to pay a separate membership fee. When Honour members decide to request IP or ASN resources, they will not be charged a membership fee for the current year of their application for resources. Special membership will identify members that do not get resources from AfriNIC. These will pay annual membership fee of USD 100. The year they decide to request allocation from AfriNIC, the membership fee will be converted to regular membership and assigned a category corresponding to the resource requested. Organizations holding resources from APNIC, ARIN or RIPE NCC will not be charged AfriNIC start-up fee when transferred under AfriNIC management. However they will be requested to sign the AfriNIC Registration Services Agreement. 7. Resources Transfer At this point, AfriNIC will not charge any fee for IP addresses and ASNs transfers. The category of the New organization that is taking over the allocated resource will be recalculated after the transfer and a new fee may apply at its next year's renewal. The new organisation may be asked to pay if they require a change in their Registry Identifier (Reg-ID) linked to the joint resource. The fee applied is equal to the Initial setup fee for the category of the previous organization. Before requesting transfer of IP and/or ASN, please check AfriNIC allocation policies about this.
